Baba Ould Hamadi is a social worker in the NGO AMSS, a partner of the UNHCR in Mali, working in prevention and mitigation program for the risks of violence guaranteed on gender (GBV) that he has chosen to work to bring about change. In the Ménaka region in Mali, his profession surprises more than one. “It’s a setting where people are not used to seeing a Tuareg man who works for the defense of women’s rights,” he said. But that does not discourage him. On the contrary, that is the motive. He says he wants to be a role model for other men. Her knowledge of local communities and her passion for this profession have enabled her to assist many survivors and initiate important discussions on the fight against gender-based violence.
